Presentation Notes
Creation of Presentation:
- A presentation is a visual communication tool used to convey information to an audience.
- LibreOffice Impress is a powerful presentation software that allows users to create engaging presentations.
Creating a Presentation Using a Template:
- Templates provide pre-designed layouts and formatting options for creating presentations.
- To create a presentation using a template, open LibreOffice Impress and select a template from the available options.
- The template will provide a structure for your presentation, including placeholders for text and media.
Creating a Blank Presentation:
- To create a blank presentation, open LibreOffice Impress and select the “Blank Presentation” option.
- This will open a new presentation with a default layout, and you can customize it according to your requirements.
Inserting & Editing Text on Slides:
- To insert text on a slide, select the slide where you want to add text and click on the text box placeholder.
- Start typing to enter your text.
- You can edit the text by selecting it and making changes, such as changing font style, size, alignment, etc.
Inserting and Deleting Slides in a Presentation:
- To insert a new slide, go to the “Insert” menu and select “Slide” or use the shortcut key (Ctrl+M).
- Choose the slide layout from the available options.
- To delete a slide, select the slide you want to delete and press the Delete key or right-click on the slide and choose “Delete Slide.”
Saving a Presentation:
- To save a presentation, go to the “File” menu and select the “Save” option or use the shortcut key (Ctrl+S).
- Choose a location to save the file, provide a name, and select the desired file format (e.g., .odp for LibreOffice Impress).
- Click “Save” to save the presentation.
Manipulating Slides:
Inserting a Table:
- To insert a table on a slide, go to the “Insert” menu and select “Table” or use the shortcut key (Ctrl+Shift+T).
- Specify the number of rows and columns for the table.
- Customize the table by adjusting its size, adding or deleting rows/columns, and formatting the table cells.
Adding ClipArt Pictures:
- ClipArt pictures are pre-designed images that can be inserted into a presentation.
- To add a ClipArt picture, go to the “Insert” menu and select “Picture” or use the shortcut key (Ctrl+Shift+P).
- Choose “ClipArt” from the options and browse the available clipart images.
- Select an image and click “Insert” to add it to the slide.
Inserting Other Objects:
- LibreOffice Impress allows you to insert various objects, such as shapes, charts, diagrams, and multimedia elements, into your presentation.
- To insert other objects, go to the “Insert” menu and select the desired object type.
Resizing and Scaling an Object:
- To resize an object, click on it to select it and then click and drag the resize handles.
- To scale an object proportionally, hold the Shift key while dragging the resize handles.
Creating & using Master Slide:
- A master slide is a template that defines the layout and formatting for all slides in a presentation.
- To create a master slide, go to the “Slide” menu and select “Master Slide” or use the shortcut key (F11).
- Customize the master slide by adding background images, logos, and formatting elements.
- The changes made to the master slide will be applied to all slides using that master.
Presentation of Slides:
Choosing a Set Up for Presentation:
- Before starting a presentation, you can choose the setup options, such as the display mode, slide transition effects, and timings.
- Go to the “Slide Show” menu and select “Slide Show Settings” to access the setup options.
Running a Slide Show:
- To run a slide show, go to the “Slide Show” menu and select “Start” or use the shortcut key (F5).
- The presentation will open in full-screen mode, and you can navigate through the slides using the arrow keys or other navigation controls.
Transition and Slide Timings:
- Transitions are visual effects that occur when moving from one slide to another.
- To set slide transitions and timings, go to the “Slide Show” menu and select “Slide Transition” or “Slide Timings.”
Automating a Slide Show:
- LibreOffice Impress allows you to automate a slide show by setting timings for slide transitions and animations.
- This allows the presentation to advance automatically without manual intervention.
- Use the “Slide Transition” and “Slide Timings” options in the “Slide Show” menu to configure automation settings.
Providing Aesthetics to Slides & Printing:
Enhancing Text Presentation:
- Customize the appearance of text on slides by applying various formatting options.
- Select the text you want to format and use the formatting tools available in the toolbar, such as font style, size, color, and alignment.
Working with Color and Line Style:
- Modify the color scheme of slides and objects by choosing different color palettes.
- Use the “Fill” and “Line” options in the formatting toolbar to change the color and line style of objects.
Adding Movie and Sound:
- To add movies or sounds to a slide, go to the “Insert” menu and select “Movie and Sound” or use the shortcut key (Ctrl+Shift+O).
- Choose the desired movie or sound file from your computer and insert it into the slide.
Adding Headers, Footers, and Notes:
- Headers and footers can be added to slides to display consistent information, such as slide numbers, date, and presenter name.
- To add headers, footers, or notes, go to the “Insert” menu and select the respective option.
Printing Slides and Handouts:
- To print slides or handouts, go to the “File” menu and select the “Print” option or use the shortcut key (Ctrl+P).
- Configure the print settings, such as the number of copies, page range, and layout options.
- Click “Print” to start the printing process.
LibreOffice Impress:
- Impress is a presentation application used for creating slideshows and presentations.
